As you are probably aware, we have a dedicated team of cappers who upload shows that are currently being broadcast on UK TV on a regular basis. We are looking for suitable additional cappers to become a part of our Capping team. Do you think you could help?
Of immediate need are cappers for BBC channels. Unless you have a DVB tuner setup, we will assume downloading from BBC iplayer (BBC's webplayer).
There would be no real minimum commitment. Anything from (say) one show a week to as many as you can cope with.
Requirements would be:
Experience uploading any show or series is an advantage, but we'll offer training if required.
Commitment to upload in a timely manner shows that you may claim.
For any show, we must have SD version. Many also benefit from HD versions.
If you are resident outside the UK, a suitable VPN would be required.
Full training would be given if needed (or advice for more experienced users). No specialist software required, only free stuff that's available on-line. We can offer batch files (if you are a Windows user) that will perform the whole process from start to finish downloading and recoding (where necessary) to produce the final files. Note: recoding would be required for 720p, we do not accept the "raw" iplayer 720p streams for various valid reasons.
We are also looking for potential cappers who can download from other UK webplayers (DRM encrypted) like All4, My5, UKTV, ITVX but for such channels we are not giving download instructions. We do know a number of you have the knowledge and necessary requirements. All we ask is that you talk to us to ensure that correct bitrate/filesizes are used for the different resolutions, even if it means recoding. Such procedures are no different to what our current cappers use.
