The Last Dinner Party have the best possible start to 2024, with their debut album Prelude to Ecstasy on track to debut at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart.
The London-based five-piece – comprised of Abigail Morris, Lizzie Mayland, Emily Roberts, Georgia Davies and Aurora Nishevci – are zooming ahead of the competition at the midweek mark.
The winners of this year’s BRITs Rising Star Award and the prestigious BBC Sound Of…2024 poll, just last week The Last Dinner Party secured their first-ever Official Singles Chart Top 40 entry with Prelude to Ecstasy’s lead single, Nothing Matters (22).
Liverpudlian singer-songwriter Jamie Webster could gain his highest-charting album in the UK yet with 10 For The People (2). He previously reached the Top 10 with 2020’s We Get By (6) and 2022’s Moments (3).
Paul McCartney & Wings’ third album as a group Band on the Run is looking to re-enter the Top 10, thanks to a special re-issue celebrating the LPs 50th anniversary. Upon its original release in 1973, Band on the Run peaked at Number 1 for seven consecutive weeks on the Official Albums Chart.
Psychedelic rockers Kula Shaker are aiming for their first Top 10 album in 25 years this week with Natural Magick (5). They previously scored two Top 10 albums in the UK; 1996’s chart-topping K (1) and 1999’s Peasants, Pigs and Astronauts (9).
Hailing from Glasgow, singer-songwriter Dylan John Thomas’s self-titled debut album is currently predicted for a new entry at Number 8. Prior to the record’s release, Thomas secured support slots in live shows for the likes of Gerry Cinnamon and Liam Gallagher.
And finally, rock band Florence Black (hailing from Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales) are on track to claim their first-ever entry in the Official Albums Chart Top 40 with Bed of Nails (29).
