Headline act Usher was just one of a number of A-list performers at the half time show.
Swifties were left hanging after their dreams of Taylor Swift taking to the stage for the Super Bowl half time show were dashed – but the show more than made up for it with a veritable parade of hip hop and R&B legends.
As expected, Usher kicked off proceedings. Dressed in all white, with spangles and fur accents, the veteran singer-songwriter, 45, got the crowd going with a medley of his greatest hits, including Love in this Club and Caught Up
Just as fans of a certain age were catching their breath, Alicia Keys, 43, made a surprise appearance in a red, sparkly catsuit.
After the pair duetted on a few of their big collaborations, including My Boo, yet another veteran rapper, 48-year-old Will.I.Am, emerged for a rendition of his and Usher’s classic track, OMG.
But it was when Lil Jon, 53, appeared, launching into a high-energy rendition of Turn Down For What, that the crowd really lost its cool, with fans erupting into full-blown, giddy glee.
And screams of excitement continued to fill the stadium as Ludacris, 46, came on to bring home the finale: Usher’s 2004 hit, Yeah, on which he and Lil Jon had both featured.
