GOLD Coast has entered the live draft pick trading sweepstakes, nabbing the opening pick of the NAB AFL Draft's second day – No.23 – to select South Australian Jez McLennan.

The Suns sent picks 27 and 32 from their draft hand this year to the Eagles for 24 and a fifth-round selection in 2019.

Central District product McLennan is a 185cm attacking half-back who shone in South Australia's triumphant NAB AFL Under-18 Championships campaign.

The 18-year-old, who was linked to Gold Coast before the draft, won All Australian honours, is an intercepting specialist and placed equal-fifth in the Yo-Yo test at the Draft Combine.

The Suns already chose fellow South Australians Jack Lukosius and Izak Rankine with picks two and three, respectively, on Thursday night.

Tall Victorian swingman Ben King was Gold Coast's other draftee so far at No.6.

Greater Western Sydney also sent pick 28 (subsequently used on Oakleigh Chargers midfielder Xavier O'Neill) and a future second-round selection to Adelaide for pick 24 and a future fifth-round choice.

The Giants were then able to swoop on West Australian goalsneak Ian Hill, one of the sliders after once being considered a top-five draft talent.

Meanwhile, the Western Bulldogs traded in an extra second-round pick before matching Melbourne's bid for father-son prospect Rhylee West at No.26.

The Dogs scored Fremantle's No.30 and 57 in return for 34 and 41, meaning they had to use only No.34 to match the Demons' bid for West.
