Indie developer Dylan Browne has launched his Kickstarter campaign for upcoming virtual reality (VR) sci-fi horror title, Caffeine. Browne is hoping to raise $70,000 AUD to help fund the title’s development. It is the second campaign the title has seen following an unsuccessful IndieGoGo attempt to raise $80,000. Should it be successful then Caffeine will launch with full support for the Oculus Rift VR headset.
Caffeine is set in the year 2097. Players awaken on a remote caffeine mining station located far away from Earth. The site is abandoned with no sign of its crew. Players explore the environment, uncovering clues and notes as to what happened aboard the facility as well as solving various puzzles to progress. The title is being made with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4 for PC, Mac and Linux. A demo for the title can be found on the Kickstarter page.
The first 150 people interested in the title can pledge $15 to secure a digital copy of the title. After those slots are taken up the title’s price increases to $25. Backer rewards continue all the way up to $500 where fans can record their voice for an audio log in the title among other rewards. The campaign is due to end on 19th June 2014, with the title hoping to launch in December. VRFocus will continue to follow Caffeine and report back with all the latest updates.
