Sam Smith was honoured with the Cultural Innovator prize at The Fashion Awards on Monday night.
The Stay With Me singer, who uses they/them pronouns, was presented with the prize by Lena Dunham at the Royal Albert Hall in London in recognition of their avant-garde style and support of U.K. designers.
Sam, 31, graced the red carpet in a custom Vivienne Westwood blazer, mini skirt and platform heels before changing into a dramatic black taffeta gown with puffed shoulders to accept the award.
They also performed their song, HIM, at the ceremony, which serves as the main fundraiser for the British Fashion Council.
Speaking about Sam's award, Caroline Rush, chief executive officer at the British Fashion Council, said they were "a true cultural innovator who has fearlessly pushed the boundaries of both fashion and entertainment".
She added, "Smith's unapologetic and groundbreaking style choices have dominated the industry in 2023 and we are incredibly grateful for their continued support of U.K. designers."
Other winners on the night included Michaela Coel, who was presented with the Leader of Change award, and Paloma Elsesser, who was crowned Model of the Year.
Meanwhile, outgoing British Vogue editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful, collected the Trailblazer award, former Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton won a special recognition award and Valentino Garavani, the founder of Valentino, was bestowed with an outstanding achievement award.
