Patti Smith is "in good health" after being hospitalised in Italy.
The Because the Night singer-songwriter cancelled a show at the Teatro Duse in Bologna, Italy on Tuesday night "due to a sudden illness" and went underwent a series of checks at the city's Maggiore hospital.
Representatives for the Local Health Authority of Bologna said in a statement on Wednesday that Smith, 76, had been discharged from the facility after "a short period of observation in emergency".
"Patti Smith is discharged and in good health conditions," the reps added, before expressing their hope that the rocker will return to the stage after "an appropriate period of rest".
In a photo shared with the Los Angeles Times, Smith appeared in good spirits as she posed with medical staff in a hospital corridor.
Her shows in Venice and Milan, which were due to take place on Thursday and Friday, have reportedly been cancelled following her health emergency. It has not been announced if they will be rescheduled.
Smith returned to social media on Wednesday night to mark what would have been the birthday of her late friend Tom Verlaine.
"This is Tom Verlaine’s birthday. If a birch tree was a somnambulant. If a bluebird was no more," she wrote alongside a throwback photo of the Television rocker, who died in January aged 73.
