THE high-powered US lawyer representing Jarryd Hayne's alleged rape victim in a civil lawsuit in California says he will "closely" follow the new Australian rape claims made against the rugby league star.
Hayne is the subject of an investigation by the NSW Sex Crimes Squad following an alleged incident on September 30, the night of the recent NRL grand final, according to Nine Network.
Hayne has not been charged. Hayne's representative Wayne Beavis opted not to comment when contacted by AAP.
The report claimed the woman said she had suffered injuries during a sexual encounter with Hayne in the Hunter Valley and she had photographs to back up her story.
News of the latest allegations quickly found their way to the US where Hayne is locked in civil court proceedings.
A US woman claimed she was a virgin and raped by Hayne after they met at a bar while he was playing for the San Francisco 49ers NFL team in 2015.
"We don't know enough about the allegations at this point but we will be following the matter closely as the investigation develops," John Clune, the American lawyer for the alleged Californian victim, known only as JV, told AAP on Thursday.
Hayne has strongly denied JV's claims and said they "willingly engaged in sexual interaction that did not include sexual intercourse".
San Jose police investigated her allegations and declined to charge Hayne.
JV went ahead and filed the civil lawsuit.
The civil proceedings are more than a year from being decided in San Jose, with a jury trial scheduled to take place on January 27, 2020.
Clune is one of America's best-known lawyers.
His past clients include Deborah Ramirez, who claimed recently appointed US Supreme Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her, and in 2004 Clune represented a woman who accused NBA star Kobe Bryant of sexual assault.
