Nessa Barrett has told how comments about her weight "manifested in an eating disorder."
The singer opened up about the effects of the nasty comments in a video on TikTok.
"I've been dealing with an immense amount of hate for like six months now. I had an album coming out. I was so stressed and anxious all the time I started losing weight, and then everyone started to comment on it," the 22-year-old said.
The singer, who recently released the Aftercare album, said that comments about her changed appearance "manifested in my eating disorder."
She then admitted that she was "pushed" into recovery by "all the people around me and everyone who loves me."
"I'm recovering. I'm getting better," she said. "I've been in recovery for two weeks now, and everyone is constantly still commenting about how sick I am. This s**t takes time, and there's going to be moments - I'm going to deal with it for the rest of my life, so stop talking about it whenever I start to struggle again. That's just life."
The singer has spoken previously about her mental health, telling Nylon in 2022 that her eating disorder began when she was in middle school. She's also spoken about being diagnosed with ADHD and BPD (Borderline personality disorder).
She blamed trolls on social media for her latest relapse.
"How could you expect anyone to get better when this is like constantly thrown at your face? Let's just stop speculating, maybe, and let me be. Also like, I'm a 22-year-old woman. I have my s**t figured out, like, I can handle myself."
