Pakistan have released fast bowler Mir Hamza from the Test squad so he can work on his rehabilitation in Karachi. The Pakistan Cricket Board announced about the development on the first day of the third and decisive Test between Pakistan and England in Rawalpindi.
As Cricbuzz reported on Tuesday, the 32-year-old was carrying a niggle in his right glute. He did not train or bowl in any of Pakistan's sessions in the lead-up to the third Test and was seen doing band rehabilitation exercises with the Pakistan team physiotherapist on Tuesday.
The left-arm pacer was in the squads announced for the first and the last two Tests. But, did not make it to the playing XI throughout the series. He last played for Pakistan in the second Bangladesh Test in Rawalpindi. He has 12 wickets in as many innings at an average of 42.08.
After playing three fast bowlers in Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, and Aamir Jamal, Pakistan fielded three specialist spinners and a solitary pacer in Jamal after tailoring the conditions to suit their spinners. Jamal's ability to bat better than the rest of the faster men in the squad pipped Hamza out of contention before the niggle made him unavailable for the last Test of the series.
