Mel B has admitted living apart from her daughter Madison is "like having an arm cut off."
The former Spice Girl lives in the UK, but after a lengthy custody hearing, it was ruled that 12-year-old Madison should live with her father Stephen Belafonte, in the US.
"It is like having an arm cut off," Mel told The Sun. "She is my baby. I have spent a fortune on legal battles but at least she spends big chunks of time here."
Mel moved back to the UK in 2019 after splitting with Stephen and accusing him of physical, emotional, and financial abuse; claims he denies.
Mel ended up with just £700 ($886) to her name, and moved in with her mum Andrea while she got back on her feet.
"In the eyes of the court I'm the big earner and have to pay his court fees as well as my own," the 48-year-old said. "I've been campaigning through my work on behalf of Women's Aid for the court system to better understand financial abuse.'
Mel is also mum to Phoenix, 25, from her relationship with Jimmy Gulzar, and Angel, 16, who she shares with Eddie Murphy.
Stephen is dad to Gisele, 19.
