Kelly Clarkson has banned her children from using social media until they turn 18.
The Stronger singer is committed to shielding her nine-year-old daughter River Rose and seven-year-old son Remington from reading negative posts online.
"That can be really hard on kids in general but especially kids with parents in the public eye," she said in a cover interview with People. "So I have informed them they're not allowed to, under my roof, ever have (it)."
Kelly added that her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock is also onboard with the social media ban.
"My daughter was like, 'Well, what if Dad lets me?' I'm like, 'Well, you're there four days a month. Enjoy that.' And right now he's not letting them do it either," Kelly explained. "I'll listen when they're older, but until they have a solid argument, it's a no."
The 41-year-old talk show host also touched upon the struggles of co-parenting.
Kelly, who filed for divorce from producer Brandon in 2020, admitted it was tough at first because of the "emotion and trauma involved" but agreeing on what's best for their kids has become "easier" with time.
"It's hard enough when you're married," she added. "And come from two different backgrounds and ways to discipline and educate. Doing that in different households can be tough."
Kelly also revealed she can be "hard" on herself as a mother but is proud of her efforts to inspire her children to be independent whenever possible.
"There's no perfect parent," she shared. "I'm definitely screwing up my children somehow! But I'm doing my best."
