Jimmy Barnes has been forced to cancel a festival appearance after being hospitalised with a serious infection.
On Tuesday, the 67-year-old musician revealed he had been put on bed rest as he received treatment for bacterial pneumonia.
"I'm sorry to let you know that I've been receiving intravenous antibiotics over the last 36 hours to treat bacterial pneumonia," Jimmy wrote on his official Facebook page.
"Unfortunately, this has stopped me travelling to Noumea to join Rock the Boat 2023 as planned."
The Scottish-born Australian rock singer had been scheduled to perform at Rock the Boat, billed as Australia's biggest music festival at sea.
While Jimmy has been ordered to rest up and recuperate, he has reassured disappointed fans that alternate plans have been made for his slot.
"My band will still perform on board, together with my daughter Mahalia and other special guests," he promised. "I'd like to apologise sincerely to everyone for the inconvenience and disappointment this has caused, but the doctors have confined me to bed for two days."
The Working Class Man singer also reassured concerned supporters that he is expected to make a full recovery.
He shared that he should be well enough to perform live at the Australian beachside festival By The C in Torquay on 2 December.
This isn't the first health setback Jimmy has battled in recent years.
In December 2022, the rocker underwent an emergency hip operation after he complained of "constant and severe pain" in his back and hips.
He was forced to cancel a scheduled tour and put on bed rest for several weeks while he recovered.
