Jason Derulo has responded to the recent sexual harassment claims made against him.
The 34-year-old singer took to Instagram on Thursday night to address the lawsuit filed against him by aspiring singer Emaza Gibson, who has alleged that he signed her to a record deal with the intention of having sexual relations with her.
Gibson, 25, filed the suit in Los Angeles on Thursday accusing Derulo of sexual harassment, breach of contract, and illegal retaliatory termination, among other claims.
"I wouldn't normally comment but these claims are completely false and hurtful," the Whatcha Say hitmaker said in an Instagram video. "I stand against all forms of harassment and I remain supportive of anybody following their dreams."
He continued, "I've always strived to live my life in a positively impactful way, and that's why I sit here before you deeply offended, by these defamatory claims. God bless."
During an interview with NBC News on Thursday, Gibson stated that Derulo's alleged behaviour during the time that they worked together left her "traumatized".
"I have anxiety; I'm traumatized," she said. "I've dealt with inhumane work situations... I'm at this point where I'm back to zero and I have nothing."
According to the lawsuit, Derulo reached out to Gibson in 2021, inviting her to work with him. Gibson's contract reportedly required her to release a single featuring Derulo, produce a mixtape within four months, and complete an album in six months.
The aspiring singer claimed that the Savage Love star ended their professional relationship after she turned down his sexual advances. She was dropped by her label, Atlantic, in September 2022 shortly after Derulo allegedly stopped replying to her messages.
Gibson has also accused Derulo of pressuring her to drink "inappropriately large amounts of alcohol" and exhibiting aggressive behaviour.
