Here's a refresher of everything you need to know leading into the two-day event...
What is the timing for the auction?
The mega-auction will kick-off at 1 PM local time, which is 3:30 PM IST,on both the days. This is shortly after the end of the third and fourth day's play in the Perth Test match. It will go on from 1 PM to 2:30 PM (local time) before they head for a 45-minute lunch break. They will then resume at 3:15 PM and go on till 8 PM (local time).
What's the big deal now?
Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. Three captains, all Indian, and one with the IPL 2024 title to his name, will go under hammer and wreak early bidding havoc through the first two marquee sets. This is also the first mega-auction in the era of impact substitutes, which will dictate the likely auction trends.
How many marquee lists are there, and how many players do they include?
There are two marquee lists with six players each. M1 includes Pant, Iyer, Jos Buttler, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada and Mitchell Starc. M2 has KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
How big is this final list and how many could potentially be picked?
The list is down to 577 players, with 367 Indian and 210 overseas. The 10 teams have a maximum of 204 slots to fill in all - of which 70 are for overseas players.
