Inter Miami fans accumulate to witness historic Luis Suarez-Lionel Messi reunion at pre-season friendly against El Salvador, as the MLS outfit gets frustrated by minnows from the Central America. All four of former Barca players, Jordi Alba, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi featured in the game, as Tata Martino wanted to give them game time ahead of the regular season.
A historic rendezvous on the cards
After switching from Brazilian giants Gremio, Luis Suarez had joined forces in David Beckham owned side Inter Miami. As “El Pistolero” joined the Herons, it was imminent that he would be playing with his best mate, Lionel Messi, who has swooned over Miami fans with his magic last season, winning the inaugural trophy with the club, as they emerged victorious in the Leagues Cup. As a result, Miami had planned several pre-season outings across the world, which involves games against Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, with a potential face-off against Messi’s generational rival Cristiano Ronaldo. Today, against El Salvador, Barca fans reminisced the golden days at their club, as they witnessed the historic unison of Messi-Suarez-Alba-Busquets, the quartet which had taken Camp Nou by storm in last decade.
It was a full-house at the Estadio Cuscatlan stadium, as locals had gathered in numbers to see four legendary players at the ground, taking on their national side, which is currently ranked 70th in the official FIFA rankings. Unfortunately, for the fans, Miami boss Tata Martino substituted all four of his former Barca apprentices, as they managed only two shots on target.

Inter Miami have eyes on MLS Championship in 2024
With several legends at fray for the Herons, which include MLS Cup winner Julian Gressel with Atlanta United, Miami have their target fixed on lifting the coveted MLS Championship trophy this season. They were struggling when Messi was brought on deck by David Beckham and Jorge Mas, standing on last position at the league table. The Argentine legend and reigning World Champion, then performed his exuberant tricks and weaved his magic wand from the moment he was introduced on the field, scoring a world-class free-kick on his debut game. Miami did not have to look back further as gradually Messi scored ten goals in seven games, thus helping the side lift their maiden trophy, defeating Nashville SC on the final of Leagues Cup.

As the regular season of MLS slated to resume from February, Messi and brigade would look to strengthen their playing composure in the pre-season friendlies they are playing. With one of the legendary squads on the American soil, having World Cup winners on their deck, it would be tough to defeat this side. But, owing to a lackluster performance against El Salvador, Miami fans might have to look for advanced support which would fuel enthusiasm for the players.
Suarez’s addition was indeed a masterstroke from David Beckham, as Josef Martinez, the star striker who had played a perfect second fiddle as Messi’s strike partner, had departed the club in October, thus paving way for another striker. Suarez was rumored to join his old friends from the Catalan side, as the former Liverpool and FC Barcelona legend decided to switch his allegiance from South America to North America, thus bolstering the attacking sector ahead of the regular season.
