India showcased their dominance in the 2nd T20I against Afghanistan as Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal played stellar innings to secure a commanding 2-0 series lead. The duo exhibited brute power, landing punches after punches in the 173-run chase, leaving Afghanistan bowlers struggling.

Dazzling Dube Registers Back-to-Back Half-Centuries
Shivam Dube, the aggressor in India’s batting lineup, continued his brilliant form by scoring an unbeaten 63. This marked his second consecutive half-century, solidifying his reputation as a powerful and consistent performer in the T20 format. Yashasvi Jaiswal made an impactful return to the playing XI after missing the first T20I due to a sore right groin. The southpaw’s ferocious 68-run knock included 5 fours and 6 sixes, entertaining the crowd in Indore. Jaiswal’s aggressive approach complemented Dube’s style, dismantling Afghanistan’s bowling attack.

Despite losing skipper Rohit Sharma for a golden duck in the first over, India displayed an aggressive response in the 173-run chase. Virat Kohli, making a comeback to the T20I team after over a year, showcased his aggressive side right from the start, scoring 29 runs off 16 balls with a remarkable strike rate of 181.25.

Known for his calculated innings, Virat Kohli surprised everyone with his aggressive approach. Typically known for settling in and unleashing in the death overs, Kohli smashed Afghan bowlers straightaway, scoring five boundaries during his quick stay in the middle. His 57-run partnership with Jaiswal proved crucial after Rohit Sharma’s early departure.

Powerful Display by Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal, stepping in for Shubman Gill, who missed the match, exhibited his power-hitting prowess with monstrous sixes, entertaining the crowd in Indore. His partnership with Dube was a key factor in India’s dominant performance. Earlier in the match, Gulbadin Naib’s breezy 57 and contributions from Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Karim Janat propelled Afghanistan to a total of 172. Despite wickets falling, Najibullah Zadran, Karim Janat, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman boosted Afghanistan’s total.

Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh played a crucial role, taking three wickets for 32 runs in his four overs. The final over from Arshdeep brought four wickets, including two run-outs, as Afghanistan was bowled out on the final ball. With a convincing win and a 2-0 lead in the three-match series, India showcased their T20 prowess against Afghanistan. Dube and Jaiswal’s power-packed performances, along with strong contributions from the rest of the team, secured the series victory with 26 balls to spare.
