FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong has spoken about his desire to win the La Liga title, and has a clear message for his teammates, encouraging them to fight for the trophy, which they have won last season after a hiatus of four long years.

FC Barcelona might be having a moderate season this time, but it should also be taken into consideration that they are the defending champions of La Liga, a prestigious crown which they had won last season. Frenkie De Jong, Barca’s midfield stalwart has spoken up about the club’s winning mentality and their strong urge to defend the title with all their forces.
The former Ajax midfielder De Jong has been one of the legends in the Catalan colors since his joining in 2019, and has since been a top notch player. Recently, in the Copa del Rey game against Unionistas de Salamanca, a third-tier club, Frenkie has achieved a historic milestone of featuring in 200 games for the Blaugranas, and has set his target on winning the tournament once again after last year.
After losing out to arch rivals Real Madrid in the final of Spanish Super Cup held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where a Vinicius hattrick had floored the defending champions Barcelona, Xavi’s brigade has set their long path till the end of this season-eyeing a treble, having La Liga, UEFA Champions League and Copa del Rey to play for.

“We can still fight for La Liga”
Frenkie has admitted that losing to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup has been a tough nut to swallow for the club, but has also explained that they still have three more titles, for which they are going to fight till the end. Currently, the Blaugranas are placed fourth on the table, trailing surprise league leaders Girona CF, who are continuing their fairytale run, by eight points.
Frenkie was heard saying according to reports in Marca, “Real Madrid deserved to win the Supercopa, but that doesn’t mean our season has been bad. We’ve lost unnecessary points and must improve, we know that. We have quality, but we lack forcefulness and sometimes concentration. “

Barca has a difficult end to this month, as they are scheduled to play four more games, starting with a trip to Real Betis, which is to be played today. It follows a Copa del Rey quarter final against Athletic Bilbao mid-week, and two crunch La Liga fixtures following closely, against Osasuna and Villareal.
