Gautam Gambhir is known for his fearless responses to former Pakistani cricketers or fans when the topic is about defending Indian players or his stance on Kashmir.
The left-hander has always spoken his mind without holding back and that’s precisely what he did after the match against Pakistan when a section of Pakistani fans was abusing India and Kashmir Gambhir replied them with an inappropriate gesture which Indian supporters on X applauded.
But there was a twist in the tale because when the video went viral the chants of Kohli- Kohli could be heard in the background and everyone thought that Gambhir reacted the way he did against those chants given the love-hate relationship the two cricketers have had on the field.

Gambhir Speaks
Later Gambhir clarified the context of the video and his gesture and said “What is shown on social media has no truth in it because people show whatever they want to show. The truth about the video that went viral is that if you raise anti-India slogans and speak about Kashmir then the person before you will obviously react and not smile and leave. There were two to three Pakistanis there who were speaking anti-India things and things on Kashmir. So, it was my natural reaction. I can’t hear anything against my country. So, that was my reaction”, Gambhir told news agency ANI.
“Do you expect me to not react if you abuse me or my country? I am not that type of person. My only message to those people is when you come to watch a match, enjoy the match, and not give a political statement. No need to say something wrong about India.”

Gambhir also clarified the same on X. He wrote “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes”. “Not everything is as it seems. Any Indian would react how I did to the kind of slogans used against our nation. I love our players & I love my country.”
