Daft Punk have declined an offer to reunite for a performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In a recent interview with France Inter, the artistic director for the games - named Thomas Jolly - teased the potential presence of the electronic duo at the opening ceremony.
"It would be very happy if they were in this ceremony. We can't not think about it," Thomas, 41, told the publication.
He added, "You can't not think of Daft Punk when you think of a successful international showcase for a French group."
However, on Wednesday, Thomas posted an update to X/Twitter that the Get Lucky musicians would not be reuniting at the games.
"My comments were confusing and generated a lot of expectations," he posted. "I must clarify: After discussing a possible presence at the ceremony, the group's decision is not to participate. I respect this decision and apologise for the ambiguity of my comments."
A representative for Daft Punk also confirmed to Pitchfork that the duo will not reunite for the 2024 Olympics.
"This is just a rumour and not true," the representative said.
Daft Punk announced their breakup in February 2021.
The duo released a 10th anniversary edition of their fourth and final studio album, Random Access Memories, in May.
