Charli XCX has opened up on her experience working with Ariana Grande.
The duo duetted on a re-released version of Charli's track Sympathy Is a Knife where they discussed the dangers they face within the competitive music industry through song.
Charli, 32, told Variety, "She had a lot to say. We went back and forth on the lyrics, talking about all the knives that we both felt in this industry."
The Von Duch singer went on to reveal that Grande, 31, encouraged her to take on roles outside of the music world - and Charli successfully helmed an episode of Saturday Night Live last month.
The British singer said, "She'd obviously just done (SNL) and killed it, so I was getting tips. She was just like, 'You're gonna be amazing, just relax, it's so fun.'"
The Brat star will soon feature in a string of films including Gregg Araki's I Want Your Sex and a remake of Faces of Death directed by Daniel Goldhaber.
Charli said, "Everything's been relatively small, and I'm enjoying learning about being on a set and learning from great directors and actors.
"I hate it when musicians dive into a different field, head-first, without really researching or learning much of anything about it. So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything."
