Central Cee joined Capital XTRA with DJ Semtex to talk about the release of his long-awaited debut album, Can’t Rush Greatness.
Central Cee told Capital XTRA’s DJ Semtex that he ‘put a lot of pressure on himself’ to ‘make a difference’ with the record, adding that teaming up with fellow rapper Dave ‘felt like a cheat code.’

DJS: “You're no stranger to hard work. Like you've been on the grind constantly. You've put out projects like 23, Wild West. Was it any different doing this project, Can’t Rush Greatness?”
CC: “Not really, to be fair. There wasn't. I always thought I would have; I've always thought it would have been a difference. Like, big album and whatever. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself, actually, to make a difference. But at the same time, I was reading the room, and like, you don't fix what's not broken, in it? So, we've kind of just kept the same process. And what's given me confidence in change is that the music hasn't necessarily got better. I ain't started to work with no mad composers or nothing, but my story has progressed, init? And I've progressed as a man, so hopefully that transcends in the music still.”
DJS: “You and Dave changed the world, changed the game. How did it feel to reunite with him once again?”
CC: “It's what he wanted, in it. So it felt like a cheat code. It was kind of easy. It felt like, yeah, just it didn't feel… At the same time, there's a bit of pressure. Obviously the same, because ‘Sprinter’ was such a huge success, it almost felt like you had to walk in them same shoes. But I kind of eliminated that when I made the song, when I did send him that specific song, because I felt like it was just in his own lane, and it doesn't even try, it doesn't even try to follow ‘Sprinter.’
