Boyzone's Keith Duffy and his wife of 25 years have been living separately since before Christmas.
The singer is reportedly "in bits" after he moved out of the Dublin home he shares with Lisa Smith just before Christmas.
"It has come as a shock to everyone," a source told the Mirror. "Back in July, they appeared happier than ever while celebrating 25 years together on a trip of a lifetime to the French Riviera."
Those close to the couple are hopeful the pair can resolve their issues.
"It is serious, but Keith is hopeful that they can sort this thing out," said the source. "They care deeply for one another and their children. There is no one else involved."
The couple married in Las Vegas' Little White Chapel in 1998. They share two children, Jay 27, and Mia, 23.
In July last year, Keith paid tribute to Lisa on their 25th wedding anniversary.
"We've had our ups and downs our fair share of obstacles along the way but our love and friendship and desire our fight for each other and we are still going, Happy Anniversary Smithy Our Silver wedding! (sic)" he wrote, alongside a photo of their wedding day.
The couple have unfollowed each other on social media.
