Pakistan captain Fatima Sana will fly home to Karachi from the ongoing World Cup in the UAE following the demise of her father, a PCB release confirmed.
The 22-year-old is likely to miss the team's next clash against Australia on Friday (October 11) deputy Muneeba Ali likely to stand in as captain.
Sana, who took over as captain from Nida Dar ahead of the tournament, has been in fine form over the team's two games in the competition so far. She hit a crucial 30 and claimed 2 for 10 in the win over Sri Lanka. She also took 2 for 23 against India, pushing the opposition into a tricky corner before India ultimately prevailed.
After Friday's clash against holders Australia, Pakistan are scheduled to play New Zealand on the final day (October 14) of Group A fixtures.
