Pakistan's problems compounded on Thursday (October 10) as Abrar Ahmed, their only regular spinner for the first Test against England, did not accompany the team to the ground because of fever.
It is highly unlikely that he will play any further role in England's first innings. Cricbuzz has learnt that the legspinner was taken to the hospital for examination and later had to be admitted.
Abrar was put through sheer toil by England throughout day three of the ongoing first Multan Test as he bowled 21 wicketless overs for 143 runs.
Across the innings, Abrar has bowled 35 overs across four sessions for 175 runs and taken no wickets.
Pakistan part-time spinners in Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, and Saud Shakeel shared nine overs between them on Wedhesday as Agha bowled six overs, Saim bowled one, and Shakeel delivered two.
Pakistan had released their other two spinners - Noman Ali and Zahid Mahmood - from the squad on the first day of this Test. The hosts had announced the squad for only the first Test leading into this series.
