The mother of Aaron Carter's child has filed a lawsuit against doctors and pharmacists who prescribed the pop star drugs in the run-up to his death.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner ruled Aaron's passing in November 2022 was accidental, claiming he drowned in the bathtub after inhaling difluoroethane gas and taking alprazolam pills.

His ex-fiancee, Melanie Martin, expressed scepticism about the verdict and has now filed the wrongful death claim in the name of their 23-month-old son, Princeton Lyrik Carter.

According to TMZ.com, the lawsuit alleges doctors prescribed Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, and Alprazolam to Aaron with no medical justification, knowing his "mental health and psychiatric condition". In 2019, Carter revealed he had been diagnosed with both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. He also entered treatment for prescription drug misuse.

Their son's lawsuit names Walgreens among the defendants, claiming the drugs and their quantities should have alarmed staff into action.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.
