Royal Challengers Bengaluru have roped in English offspinner Charlie Dean as a replacement for the injured Sophie Molineux for the upcoming season of the Women's Premier League, the franchise announced on Thursday (January 16).
Molineux, who put in some stellar performances in 2024, espeically across franchise cricket, has been ruled out of the WPL due to a knee injury. The bowling all-rounder picked up 12 wickets in 10 games in WPL 2024, finishing as the third highest wicket-taker in the competition. More notably, she also captained the Melbourne Renegades in the Women's Big Bash to the title with 16 wickets in the seven games.
Dean, on the other hand, has featured in 36 T20Is for England so far and has picked up 46 wickets at an economy of 6.91. The offspinner was also part of the winning London Spirit team in the Women's Hundred last year where she picked up seven wickets in the 10 games. She was recently named the Player of the series in the ODI series against South Africa which concluded last month having scalped seven wickets across three ODIs.
