Countries around the world have seen in the New Year with countdowns, fireworks and music.
The island nation of Kiribati in Oceania was the first country in the world to enter 2025, at 10am GMT.
Huge crowds celebrated around Australia soon after that, with nine tonnes of fireworks let off at midnight over Sydney Harbour after a live show by Robbie Williams.
Asia followed suit, with dazzling displays in Taiwan and Thailand. Traditional Buddhist bell-ringing ceremonies were held across Japan to mark the occasion, while celebrations in South Korea were scaled back or cancelled following the Muan air crash on Sunday in which 179 people died.
In typical flashy fashion, Dubai launched more than 15,000 fireworks from the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, synchronised with a soaring display of water jets from the Dubai Fountain.
Wild weather warnings curtailed celebrations in towns and cities across the UK, including cancellations in Blackpool, Newcastle and Edinburgh. But the ooh and ah-inducing pyrotechnics display on the River Thames in London went ahead as Big Ben chimed the midnight hour.
The Americas were among the last countries to celebrate. At 5am GMT the ball dropped in New York City's Times Square, which was filled with thousands who braved the rain.
That said there are still a few places waiting to ring in 2025 - Los Angeles, Hawaii and American Samoa all still have the Champagne on ice.
