Tory Lanez is in "good spirits" after he was stabbed in prison on Monday.
The Canadian rapper, who is serving 10 years after shooting fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, was taken to hospital on Monday morning after being stabbed by another inmate.
It was reported that Lanez, who is being held at the California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi, had been stabbed multiple times with a shank and was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital in Bakersfield.
A spokesperson for the artist has provided an update on his health in a new statement posted on Instagram, claiming he was stabbed 14 times, including, "7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his face".
"Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus," the statement continued. "He is now breathing on his own."
The spokesperson went on to share that Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is recovering well.
"Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through," they wrote. "He also wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support."
In December 2022, the Lady of Namek rapper was found guilty of three felonies related to the shooting, including negligent discharge of a firearm and assault with a firearm. He is eligible for parole in 2029.
Megan, real name Megan Pete, also successfully obtained a five-year restraining order against Lanez after telling the court she feared he would shoot her again if he was released from prison.
