St. Vincent has declared that she is "amazed' by Taylor Swift's fans.
The musician, whose real name is Anne Clark, has reflected on the recent success of Taylor's 2019 smash hit Cruel Summer, which she co-wrote.
"She's just so incredibly intelligent and so hardworking," St. Vincent said of the pop star in a new interview with People. "That's a given."
The singer went on to praise the All Too Well singer's fans for supporting Cruel Summer, which saw a resurgence in popularity on streaming platforms and TikTok in 2023. Four years after its release, the song became Taylor's tenth number one song on the Billboard Hot 100.
"I am so incredibly blown away and amazed by Taylor's fans because they are just a force of nature," St. Vincent, 41, said. "They took a song that was, what? Almost four records ago now, that was not a single off a record. They were like, 'No, this song's a hit.' Then, by force of will, they made that song a worldwide hit."
Elsewhere in the interview, St Vincent spoke about being a mentor to younger artists, including Olivia Rodrigo.
"I love Olivia, she's just a wonderful person," she told the outlet of the 21-year-old. "But I don't lead with advice. The only advice I have ever given Olivia was just to trust her instincts and to make exactly the record that she wants to make that's in her heart. That's it."
The Rosyln singer continued, "What's going to resonate with people is her authentic voice, and she did. She made a great record."
