La Liga giants Sevilla FC, who have been under fire this season owing to several shambolic performances at both domestic and international circuit, have hired a new coach in the form of Quique Sanchez Flores, an ex-Valencia and Atletico Madrid stalwart. He comes on deck after Europa League giants Sevilla were knocked out of UEFA Champions League, mustering a poor group stage performance which led them to a last-place finish.
Quique Sanchez- a legend among domestic circuit
Quique Sanchez has been one of the famous stars in the history of Spanish football. Former Valencia and Real Madrid veteran, who has played in the national team as a right-back, has previously shown his coaching finesse by managing several top tier clubs in his managerial stint. He has been a legend among the ranks of Valencia, having showcasing his meteoric rise at Los Che, as he played for them for a decade, thus getting the epitaph of a legend in the jersey. Later, he joined the La Liga greats Real Madrid, while playing for Real Zaragoza at the fag end of his career earned him the status of a defense metronome.
Coming to his managerial career, he has been one of the go-to names in that sector, owing to his exceptional ability to coach top clubs since decades. He started his managerial stint with Real Madrid Juvenile team, followed by Getafe, but it was at Valencia that he earned his legendary status, both as a player and a manager, getting among the history books as a rare person who achieved this rank both as a player and a manager. Later, he went on to showcase his coaching skills at the Premier League, with a managerial stint at Watford up his sleeves. He came to the Spanish football circuit as a Getafe manager, where he worked since past two years, before being called up as a Sevilla boss, vowing to establish a strong point from their side.

Deal till 2025, eyeing a potential rebuilt
Quique has been appointed at the club with an 18-month contract being put pen on paper, after former boss Diego Alonso was relieved off his duties. Currently, Los Nervionenses are currently going through a rough patch, standing on an all-time low of 17th spot, barely surviving the relegation battle, with a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Getafe acting as a swansong for Alonso. A legendary team which comprises metronomes like Sergio Ramos, Ivan Rakitic, is currently out of relegation zone only on goal difference, but it would not be long when they would be at that place, provided Quique weaves his magic wand.
Just like Jose Luis Mendilibar, Quique is more leaned on bringing teams out of relegation zone, rather than taking his side towards Europe. Currently, Quique has been vested with a difficult job in hands, to take Sevilla out of this relegation battle, as they have merely showcased their true ability since Lopetegui’s departure, barely climbing out of the mire. Mendilibar’s appointment was a silver lining in their history, but they present a sorry figure once again this season, with Quique’s appointment might be the solution to all their problems, as the veteran Spaniard would be looking to showcase his intent and exuberance owing to his high-profile experience.

Sevilla travel to Granada, who are battling relegation like them, as Quique would be eyeing a rather easy victory away from home, as it might be the beginning of the Sanchez-Flores era.
