Sean 'Diddy' Combs' hugely anticipated trial has begun - with a judge noting the long list of nicknames the star is known by.
The 55-year-old music mogul was arrested in New York last September and federally charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Last week, the musician rejected a plea deal and has pleaded "not guilty" to the charges held against him and his trial officially began in New York on Monday.
TMZ has reported that Judge Arun Subramanian reeled off the list of nicknames the rap star has had over the years, noting he has gone by, "Puff Daddy, Diddy, other names ... and Love."
Combs himself attended the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Courthouse in Lower Manhattan wearing a suit and reading glasses after previously being granted a request to be permitted to wear civilian clothing rather than jail scrubs for the duration of the trial.
Jury selection is expected to take "several days" as the case gets underway - and the court was told to anticipate the case to go on for eight weeks.
Judge Subramanian was also reported by TMZ as joking about the list of potential jurors for this high-profile case by comparing the list to the length of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
On top of the original three charges, Combs was hit with two further charges in April this year - another sex trafficking count, and another transportation to engage in prostitution charge, bringing the total number to five.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
