Saudi Arabia's National Centre for Meteorology has issued a weather warning regarding ongoing heavy rainfall across several regions of the Kingdom. The adverse weather conditions are expected to continue throughout the week, according to Al Arabiya News.
The centre raised a red alert for certain areas, cautioning about rain accompanied by thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds. The affected regions include Makkah, Jeddah, al-Baha, and Asir.
Unstable weather conditions led to the cancellation of some flights departing from Jeddah airport on Tuesday. Meanwhile, videos circulating on social media depicted cars partially submerged in floodwaters on the streets of Jeddah on Monday and Tuesday.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense has repeatedly urged the public to take safety precautions. It has recommended residents stay indoors, avoid valleys and waterlogged areas, and follow all issued safety guidelines during the week of rainfall.
"The Civil Defense is following the weather conditions in some areas of the Kingdom, and has called on the public to staying away from valleys and waterlogged areas," it said on X, formerly Twitter.
