Simu Liu confirms there will be no “Taylor Slander” at the upcoming People’s Choice Awards.
After the news broke that the Barbie actor will host this year’s awards show, he joked there would be no untoward comments about Taylor Swift.
“There will be no Taylor slander at the 2024 PCAs that's a personal guarantee," the self-avowed Taylor fan said in a post on X on Thursday.
His joke comes after Golden Globes host Jo Koy made an arch comment about Taylor Swift’s attendance at football games.
“As you know, we came on after a football doubleheader,” Koy said at the Golden Globes on Monday. “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.”
The camera panned to Taylor while she sipped her drink and made no reaction. Jo Koy realised his joke hadn’t landed and apologised. “Sorry about that,” he added.
The People’s Choice Awards takes place on February 8. Taylor is nominated in five categories. However, it’s unlikely she will attend the show; she hasn’t been since 2013, and the next leg of her Eras Tour starts in Tokyo on February 7.
