Paloma Faith has revealed her relationship with Leyman Lahcine broke down because of their two children.
The Picking Up the Pieces singer opened up about splitting from the French visual artist after 10 years together in an interview with The Independent and revealed their relationship was never the same after their first daughter was born in December 2016.
"You either grow together, adapting to one another like expandable foam and filling the gaps where it's empty - or one person grows and the other stays the same," she explained. "And I think for me, becoming a mother was such a massively life-changing experience that for the first time in my life, I needed more than nothing - and the expandable foam just wasn't there."
She later added, "Our relationship ended because we have those children. And I think that was worth it."
The 42-year-old singer, who welcomed their second daughter in February 2021, confirmed her split from Leyman in August last year. However, the breakup was first reported in November 2022.
It was widely believed that the pair had been married, however, Paloma indicated otherwise in the interview.
"People think I'm married because they cannot believe that I'd have children with someone I'm not married to!" she commented.
While she is still "adjusting" to life as a single mother, The Voice UK singer noted that she and Leyman have such a "good" co-parenting relationship that staff at their kids' school were surprised to learn of their split.
"We're both emotionally intelligent enough to know that it's important. It's hard but we have to be on good terms, for our kids," she stated.
