After breaking a record by beating Sheffield United 8-0 in the Premier League this weekend, the Magpies will face league leaders Manchester City at the St. James’ Park on Wednesday.
Newcastle United, who are last year’s finalists of the Carabao Cup, will face an uphill task to beat Man City. Eddie Howe’s side held a 0-0 draw against AC Milan in the Champions League last week, but bounced back quickly by hammering Sheffield United this weekend.
The Magpies have improved their squad depth after securing a top 4 finish last season. Their start in the Premier League was not good at all, but a win against City will boost their morale.

As for Pep Guardiola’s side, the Sky Blues are coming into this game with a 100% record in the Premier League while also conceding the least amount of goals.
City faced Red Star Belgrade last week in the Champions League and were trailing until the half-time. However, the Champions League winners turned the game around to win the tie 3-1.
Furthermore, they scored two goals in 14 minutes against Nottingham Forest, but Rodri’s red card meant that they needed to defend their lead.
Both sides have already met earlier this season, and the game ended 1-0 after Julian Alvarez scored the only goal of the match.
