Country singer Morgan Wallen was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct for allegedly throwing a chair off the roof of a bar in Nashville on Sunday.

The Last Night singer, 30, was arrested and taken into custody after allegedly throwing the chair from the roof of the six-storey Chief's bar in downtown Nashville around 10:45 pm on Sunday.

According to an arrest report obtained by local media, the chair hit the ground just three feet away from two officers with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Staff members at Chief's told police that Wallen was responsible for throwing the chair, while officers also viewed a video that showed him "lunging and throwing an object over the roof", according to NewsChannel 5 Nashville.

The Voice contestant was charged with one count of disorderly conduct and three counts of reckless endangerment for the two cops outside the bar and for being a danger to the public.

The singer's lawyer Worrick Robinson confirmed the news in a statement, saying, "At 10:53pm Sunday evening Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities."

Wallen's bond was set at $15,250 (£12,000) and he was released from Davidson County jail around 3.30am on Monday morning.

He is expected to appear in court on 3 May.

Chief's, which had its grand opening on Friday, is owned by fellow country musician Eric Church.

This isn't Wallen's first encounter with the law - he was arrested on intoxication and disorderly conduct charges in Nashville in May 2020.
