Mike Love honoured late Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson during his induction ceremony for the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Thursday night.
Earlier this week, family members announced that the legendary musician had died at the age of 82.
A cause of death wasn't announced, though Brian had been diagnosed with dementia in February 2024.
Taking to the stage at the event in New York City, Mike noted that he felt the "presence" of his cousin and former bandmate.
"I especially must thank my cousin Brian Wilson," he said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "My first cousin by blood but brother in music, together we set the stage for some of the most successful music collaborations of all time."
Good Vibrations hitmaker Brian was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000.
Earlier in the ceremony, Mike was inducted by mega-fan John Stamos - who had collaborated with the Beach Boys many times in the past.
"(Mike) made the whole world want to be us: sun-kissed, carefree, full of promise," he praised. "His lyrics were cinematic. What's a song without a hook? What's a hook without a picture in your head or a memory in your heart? Mike Love knows how to write that song."
In addition, Mike performed a medley of tracks for the audience, including the 1965 hit California Girls.
The other inductees included funk icon George Clinton, The Doobie Brothers, songwriter-producer Ashley Gorley, Build Me Up Buttercup co-writer Tony Macaulay, and prolific songwriter-producer Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins.
Broadway icon Stephen Schwartz was honoured with the Johnny Mercer Award, while Gracie Abrams received the Hal David Starlight Award.
