DUAL Sandover Medal winner Jye Bolton is hoping an AFL club looking for an immediate impact from a draftee will help him earn a second chance at the top level.

Bolton has put his best foot forward with some scintillating form at WAFL level for Claremont over the past three years, winning the league’s top individual honour in 2016 and 2018.

The 26-year-old, who spent the 2011 season on Collingwood’s list, said he was confident he could make an immediate impression if fortunate enough to be drafted this week.

“The way the shift is going with clubs is they’re looking more toward someone who can potentially come in and have an impact straight away,” Bolton told Seven’s Today Tonight.

“It’s always flattering to have some AFL clubs show some interest in you.”

The midfielder paid credit to the meditation techniques that had helped him improve his mindset ahead of games this year.

“I started doing that at the start of the year,” he said.

“It worked pretty well - it helped calm me down before a game and get my headspace right.”

Claremont football manager and former AFL player Kepler Bradley said Bolton had earned his chance for higher honours.

“He’s banging down the door,” Bradley said.

“He’s played three years of really consistent footy, and has won two Sandovers and two Simpsons.

“He’s a guy who desperately wants to be at the next level and he desperately deserves to be at the next level.”
