Liverpool beat Chelsea to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo for a British record fee of £110 million.
The Seagulls were clear the club with the highest bid will sign Caicedo. Chelsea’s final offer was up to £100 million. However, Liverpool made a better offer to seal the deal with Brighton.

The Reds are yet to agree on any personal terms with Caicedo, but to avoid any hijack, they will wrap up this transfer as soon as possible. However, according to Fabrizio Romano, if everything goes to plan, he will undergo his medicals on Friday.
The Blues were the front-runners for Caicedo after Arsenal pulled out and signed Declan Rice. But, they were unwilling to accept Brighton’s demand. Moreover, they entered the race to sign Romeo Lavia, who was Liverpool’s target.

So, this made Liverpool to bid for the Ecuador midfielder. Moreover, this deal would break the club’s transfer record, which currently stands at £75 million for Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool have already signed Caicedo’s former Brighton partner Alexis Mac Allister in this transfer window. Last season Liverpool’s midfield was exhausted, and that costed Klopp’s side a place in the top 4.
