The enhanced ‘Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles’ will launch early next year
Iconic PlayStation 1-era Star Wars game Jedi Power Battles is set to launch on modern consoles from early next year.
Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles was originally released in 2000 for the original PlayStation, before launching on the Sega Dreamcast and the Game Boy Advance a few months later. Inspired by the events of The Phantom Menace, players could take control of a prequel-era Jedi to slash their way through a number of levels.
An enhanced version of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles will now launch January 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC. The updated game will feature 22 playable characters in total, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jin and Darth Maul as well as 13 new additions.
“Take back the Theed Royal Palace in this fast and furious lightsaber action game. You will have the power of the Force and your trusty lightsaber to help you ward off legions of battle droids, destroyer droids, assassins, and other creatures from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace,” says the official description.
The game will also feature couch co-op, and allow players access to the versus and training modes from the very start of the game. Controls have also been updated for modern consoles, while players will also be able to toggle the colour of their lightsaber.
Developers Aspyr is also behind modernised versions of Star Wars Bounty Hunter and Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection. Last month, they confirmed a remastered version of Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver 1+2 would be released December 10, in time for the game’s 25th anniversary.
In other news, Just Dance 2025 has given fans a look at new routines inspired by the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa and SpongeBob SquarePants before the game launches later this month.
