Hugo Lloris, French captain of the 2018 World Cup winning squad is currently setting out for an American adventure as according to reports, MLS side Los Angeles FC is looking to bring on deck the former World Cup winner next year. The Tottenham Hotspurs No.1 keeper is eyeing an American dream if his move to MLS materializes in the upcoming season.
Hugo Lloris- a Spurs legend
Hugo Lloris has been one of the undisputed legends for the North London club since ages. Having joined Tottenham Hotspurs a decade ago in 2012 from French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, the former French international has featured for them on 447 occasions, keeping a record 151 clean sheets on the process. Among his noteworthy performances, a UEFA Champions League final appearance in 2019 was one for the record books, as his immaculate outings between the sticks had earned the praise of critics and fans likewise.
He was appointed the skipper of Spurs in 2015 by former manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is now at rival club Chelsea’s helm, and has been a regular started since then. But, due to certain shambolic performances which came this year, especially a 1-6 loss in the hands of Newcastle United, Lloris has fallen down the pecking order among the ranks of Tottenham, with Vicario and Fraser Forster being names ahead of him.

Lloris to Lazio- so near, yet so far
Lloris was almost switching his allegiance to Lazio this summer, when the Italian club was in talks with the French World Cup winner. but “The Italian Job” failed to materialize, thus keeping him at the English club for one more year. His contract is nearing an end next year, and a move to MLS seems imminent with all forces coming to a common standpoint regarding his transfer.
He expressed his desire to leave the club this summer, and was left out of the squad which toured Australia and the Far-East during the pre-season bonanza. He was replaced by Son Heung-Min at the start of this season, with Vicario shouldering the role of a potent goalkeeper between the sticks, faring well and has been a competitive name in Postecoglou’s mind.
A man who has given a great deal for this club, during a stellar 11 year stint here.

He retired from the National squad in January, after playing his last game in 2022 World Cup final, where his side eventually lost to Argentina in one of the enthralling games in a World Cup. He hung up his boots being the country’s most capped player, with 145 appearances in his bag, as France would be without the services of one of their biggest names between the sticks in their upcoming tournaments.
