Mir Hamza is carrying a niggle in his right glute and it remains uncertain whether the left-arm pacer will recover in time for the third Test against England, which will be played in Rawalpindi from Thursday.
The left-arm pacer did not train or bowl during Pakistan's three-hour-long practice session on Tuesday. He paced around the ground at the start of the session and was seen doing glute exercises with resistance bands under physiotherapist Cliffe Deacon's guidance. Hamza did double and single-leg glute bridges and clam shells.
It is understood that Hamza also did not bowl on Monday, which was Pakistan's first practice session at the venue in the lead up to the third Test.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Ali, the other fast bowler in Pakistan's 16-man squad, bowled at full hilt in the nets. He is a contender to replace leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood for the third Test.
Ali has played in Pakistan's last three Tests in Rawalpindi. He made his debut against England in December 2022 and played both Tests against Bangladesh. His returns, however, have been underwhelming here as his six wickets have come at an average of 55.50. He was wicketless in his last outing here returning none for 57 across 24 overs.
