The allrounder is set to become the first Australian woman to reach 300 international appearances during the T20I series against India. Perry, a stalwart of Australian sports, is not ruling out the possibility of playing up to 400 matches, emphasizing that she has set no limits on her playing career.

Speaking from India, Perry expressed her openness to the future, stating, “I don’t know what’s in store… but if it’s meant to be down the track and I’m still around playing… I’m really open to what happens.” The 33-year-old remains focused on contributing to the team and finds motivation and enjoyment in the game. She stressed that the number of matches is secondary to her ability to contribute effectively.

Perry faced a temporary setback in early 2022 when she was excluded from Australia’s T20I team. However, she adapted her game and made a successful return as a crucial player. Since a serious hamstring injury during the 2020 World Cup, Perry has adjusted her bowling approach, highlighting the importance of evolution for both individual players and the team.
Amidst Australia’s tour of India, which saw India beating Australia in a Test for the first time, Perry acknowledged the team’s evolution. She mentioned the impressive performances of players like Phoebe Litchfield and Annabel Sutherland, emphasizing the team’s commitment to maintaining success while adapting to the changing dynamics of the game.
Perry also gave credit to her family, particularly her father Mark, with whom she still enjoys net sessions. Reflecting on her journey in women’s cricket, Perry recalled her debut in 2007 when only about 30 people attended her first game in Darwin. She marveled at the growth of women’s cricket, exemplified by the 86,000 fans who witnessed Australia’s victory in the 2020 World Cup final at the MCG. Perry sees this as a privilege and remains dedicated to contributing to the sport’s continued success.
