Ed Sheeran has explained what makes him different from other artists.
During an interview with GQ, the British singer explained that his career is so successful because of the two specific subjects he writes his songs about.
"Well, I think everyone loves love, and everyone feels low, and I feel like those are the two subjects that I've written most about," the 32-year-old said. "I think that any song that people connect with has to feel uncomfortable while you're writing it."
The Bad Habits hitmaker used his 2017 romantic ballad Perfect, which he wrote as a tribute to his now-wife Cherry Seaborn, as an example.
"When I was writing Perfect I thought, 'This is really cheesy, Cherry is gonna think that I'm like the cheesiest f**king boyfriend,'" he recalled. "And you know, when I was writing Salt Water, which is all about imagining your own suicide, I was like, 'F**k, I don't want to put this out and have my parents listen to this.'"
Ed released his latest album, Autumn Variations, on 29 September. The album was his second of the year, following Subtract, which dropped in May and contained Salt Water.
