Mikel Arteta’s side Arsenal returned to winning ways after losing to Magpies last weekend, as they showcased their class in outsmarting the Clarets. Leandro Trossard opened the scoring for them, with Saliba and Zinchenko getting on scoresheet to complete a rout against Burnley.
Arsenal cements on second spot, levels with Manchester City
Arsenal have been quite a competitive team this season, as they have once again outclassed their opponents in the form of Burnley. After narrowly losing out to serial winners Manchester City at the business end of last season, Arsenal seems to have destined themselves to go for the kill this season, as they had remained unbeaten few weeks before. But, their unbeaten streak ended when they had lost to Newcastle United, last season’s surprise third place finishers, last week. With an important fixture up against Burnley, Mikel Arteta decided to go all guns blazing against the Clarets.
Their start received an injury boost when their star boy Bukayo Saka and Tomiyasu were given green signals to start, after suffering an unprecedented knock during their midweek clash against Sevilla in UEFA Champions League. The youngster Saka was instrumental in spearheading the attack, almost giving an early lead for the Gunners inside 20 minutes, but he saw his near-edge effort being parried away by Clarets custodian James Trafford. But, Leandro Trossard was instrumental in breaking the deadlock when he nodded the ball in the far post for earning the lead. With this goal, Arsenal became the third team to score 1000 goals at Emirates Stadium, trailing closely behind Manchester City at Etihad (1138 goals) and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (1028 goals).

Soon after half-time, the visitors equalized in the form of Brownhill, when the Englishman’s low shot was deflected onto the net by Gabriel. Although an initial controversy was on the rise for the equalizer by the home team for a foul in the build-up of goal by Koleosho on Tomiyasu, the hosts did not have to wait longer for a lead as defender William Saliba was exceptional once again in front of the goal, showing his goal scoring prowess after he scored a header from Trossard’s corner in to the net from point blank range.
Zinchenko seals the deal
The Clarets had put up a lot of fight in after conceding the lead, with their attackers creating some scary moments for the Gunners, but all of their thoughts of salvaging a point went in vain when Oleksandr Zinchenko decided to audition for Kobra Cai, letting his acrobatic finish go past Trafford to lead the score 3-1 in their favor. The Ukraine star hit the winner after Dara O’Shea steered another Trossard corner into the crossbar, thus photographers creating a moment to capture Zinchenko’s out-of-the-world shot at goal.

Arteta was seen speaking after the game, as he praised his players after a special performance against a stern Clarets side. He said, “I’m very happy with the performance. The way the team dominated the game, we fully deserved to win. They were defending really deep [but] we generated a lot today and looked a threat every time [we came forward]. The timing of the equalizer was perfect.”
Burnley boss Vincent Kompany added, “When the second half gets decided on two set pieces, it leaves a bitter feeling. In general play we did as well as we could in terms of being solid, aggressive and taking our moments. I would only ever have concern with a team who drop their standards. But this team have such high standards. There’s something unique in this club, but it doesn’t translate into results.”
"The team is showing real maturity as well as a lot of hunger."
