FREMANTLE Dockers skipper Nat Fyfe is likely to be one of four big-name players at the centre of a revamped AFLX competition.
Seven News understands the AFL is looking for several stars to hand-pick their own teams, with the Brownlow Medallist one of those marquee men.
It’s believed Patrick Dangerfield, Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin and Dustin Martin are also on the competition’s wish list.
The one-night tournament would be similar to last season’s NBA All-Star game, where superstars LeBron James and Steph Curry led teams they’d hand-picked in a schoolyard style selection.
According to 7 News, the four-team competition would get the go-ahead on February 22 at Marvel Stadium.
The AFL is set to confirm the competition details early next month.
The revamped marquee competition would replace the club-based model that was rolled out for the first time earlier this year.
For the four marquee players taking part, there’s reports they could be paid more than $50,000 for selecting, managing and playing with their team.
AFL clubs are set to meet on the proposal next week.
AFLX features 10 players on each side, with seven on the field and three substitutes, who compete across two 10-minute halves under a number of modified rules.
These include 10 points for a super goal, kicked from outside the 40m arc, as well as a kick in after any score and no time on.
