London’s Royal Albert Hall will play host to live orchestral performances of the entire The Lord Of The Rings trilogy next year.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original release of The Fellowship Of The Ring, the London Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Howard Shore’s familiar score to all three of Peter Jackson’s original films across two separate weekends, with the films being shown on the Hall’s 40-foot screen behind the orchestra.

The first run through will begin on Thursday 30 April 2026, with the second starting on Saturday 9 May 2026. The shows will be part of the venue’s ‘Films In Concert’ series and will mark the first time the entire trilogy will be presented back-to-back with full orchestra in the UK.

Tickets for all performances are on sale now, with special discounts for those wishing to book tickets to all three films. Find your tickets here.

Speaking about the shows, Shore has said: “I’m honoured that my scores for The Lord of the Rings films will be performed on Royal Albert Hall’s famous stage once again. This music remains one of the creative high points of my life, and it’s very special to me that it has meant so much to so many people over the last quarter century. The chance to experience the scores for all three films live, and played by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, as on the original soundtrack, will be a truly memorable experience.”

In other Lord Of The Rings news, the release date for Andy Serkis’ spin-off film The Hunt For Gollum has been confirmed as December 17, 2027. Set between The Hobbit and The Fellowship Of The Ring, it will explore untold stories from the life of Gollum, including how he was pursued by Sauron, Gandalf and Aragorn.

Warners are also working on a second live-action film set in Middle Earth that remains untitled. Sir Ian McKellen said last year that he would consider returning to the role of Gandalf if he is “still alive” when they are being made.

Meanwhile, the prequel TV series The Rings Of Power will definitely return for a third season, Amazon Prime Video confirmed earlier this year. The second season ran from August to October 2024, with new episodes expected to start shooting imminently.
