An enhanced version of Gaping Maw is available to fight for a limited time
Elden Ring: Nightreign developers have shocked players by surprise-releasing a tough new boss.

Elden Ring: Nightreign launched last month and FromSoftware have been regularly tweaking the game to ensure the three-person co-op title is properly balanced. They’ve also made it a lot easier for solo players.
Yesterday (June 18) the game went offline for another update but when some players returned, they found themselves face-to-face with a difficult boss they hadn’t seen before. “This was not in the patch notes?!” wrote one fan alongside an image of the Everdark Sovereign. They went on to say fighting it was “hell”.
A few hours after the shadow drop, FromSoftware confirmed that “stronger and more challenging versions of the Nightlords will begin to appear from the depths of the night as ‘Everdark Sovereigns’ over the next few weeks.” The first, Gaping Jaw, is available now with Sentient Pest and Darkdrift Knight set to follow.
Other Everdark Sovereigns (Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast and Fissure In The Fog) will be added to the game at a later date. Each enhanced boss will only be available for one week before they’ll disappear from the game, though FromSoftware have hinted that they may return in the future.
To face the more powerful Everdark Sovereigns, players must first defeat the original version of the boss.
“These limited-time versions of the Nightlords are extremely challenging and pose an even greater threat to the Nightfarers with new moves and increased power,” added developers. “If you can defeat these enhanced versions of the Nightlords before they return to the darkness, you will receive Sovereign Sigils as a reward — unique tokens that can be exchanged for special Relics and other items.”
Developers have also said they’re currently working on a duos mode for Elden Ring: Nightreign but a launch date has yet to be confirmed.
In other news, Alien Ant Farm have spoken about the disappointment that their iconic Tony Hawk’s anthem ‘Wish’ won’t be featured on the upcoming Pro Skater 3+4.
